Some of the words and terms commonly used in this field:

420 #
This relates to cannabis culture, and often to its consumption. It is also used to denote April 20th (the cannabis day), and 4:20pm in the context of a suitable time to smoke a joint.
B #
BARTARDED #
This is the state of being intoxicated on xanax (or sometimes a similar substance) to the point of being visibly impaired.
BASELINE #
The normal sober state before a psychoactive experience, and as returned to following the experience.
BODY LOAD #
This is the physical discomfort which sometimes accompanies the intake of particular chemicals or botanicals. It can often include nausea, or chill/flu-like symptoms, and commonly passes following further metabolism of the substance. If it is unusually high, or persists unduly, do not hesitate to seek medical assistance.
BOGART #
This is typically someone who refuses to share a cannabis joint.
BOMBING #
This is orally consuming a psychoactive substance in a single operation. My usual technique is to wrap it in rizla cigarette paper and chase this down with water or fruit juice. Note that I invariably cut off the strip of glue on the basis that eating this cannot possibly be healthy.
BREATHING #
This is the visual effect of objects appearing to rhythmically contract and expand whilst under the experience of a psychedelic.

CEV #
CEVs are closed eye visuals. These are visual hallucinations that #
appear when the eyes are closed, perhaps on the back of the eyelids.
D #
DROP #
This is to ingest a drug, usually a psychedelic.
C #
COLD TURKEY #
This is to stop using drugs suddenly, without tapering and without using a substitute substance to ease the process.
COME-DOWN #
The come-down is essentially the after effects of a substance. This is the period from the peak of an experience until normality is reached.
CONNECT #
A connect is someone who can obtain drugs for you, as in “I need a connect”.
D #
DNM #
A DNM is a dark net market, which usually sells drugs, and is invariably accessed via the ToR browser.
DOLLHOUSE EFFECT #
This is the surreal psychoactive impression that everything is an idealized copy of itself, as if taken from a dollhouse.
E #
EYEBALLING #
The ill advised and dangerous practice of measuring the dose of a compound based upon its visible appearance. For example: the measuring of ten 10mg doses from a 100mg purchase by splitting it into 10 equal looking piles.

FLYING #
This is the status of being extremely high on a drug.
H #
HEAD SHOP #
This is a retail outlet which typically sells legal highs or drug paraphernalia.
HEADSPACE #
This is the altered state of mind or mindset whilst experiencing a psychoactive drug.
HOOVER #
To hoover is to insufflate a drug, for example, cocaine.
HORN #
This is usually a reference to sexual appetite during a psychoactive experience. Some psychoactives substantially increase and enhance sexual interest and drive, whilst others do the opposite.
HUFFING #
This is the inhalation of the fumes from a (usually toxic) substance, such as a solvent or petrol, sometimes but not always out of a bag. This is extremely dangerous: it can cause severe brain damage, and can very easily be fatal.

GUN #
This is the needle, as in an intravenous injection.
L #
LINE #
This is a ready to insufflate dose of powdered or crushed drug, shaped to form a straight line.
M #
MAOI #
This is a monoamine oxidase inhibitor, which prevents the digestive system from breaking down certain chemicals before they can become active. If taken with or in close proximity to a lengthy list of other substances (many seemingly innocuous) the results can be tragic. Exercise extreme caution.
MICRODOSING #
This is the practice of taking small sub-threshold doses on a regular (often daily) basis. It is most prevalent with respect to psychedelics, with frequent claims of improved functionality and well-being.
MORPHING #
This is the visual effect of objects drifting out of shape whilst under the experience of a psychedelic.
MUSEUM DOSE #
This is a dose of a psychedelic substance which is over the minimum psychoactive threshold, but is not high enough to impinge on functionality or render the subject likely to attract public attention.
O #
OEV #
OEVs are open eye visuals. These are hallucinations, morphing, #
distortions, or other visible phenomena which appear when the eyes are open.
ONSET #
The period from which a substance has been taken to the point at which it has clearly taken effect.
P #
PATTERN RECOGNITION #
This is the recognition of certain imagery within the overall visible field, for example, faces in clouds.
PERMAFRIED #
This is the appearance of being permanently under the influence of drugs, even when not.
PLUG #
A plug is someone who can supply drugs.
PLUGGING #
This is the rectal administration of a drug.
R #
RAILING #
This is the insufflation of a psychoactive substance.
ROLLING #
To be rolling is to be high on a psychoactive, usually MDMA or similar club drug.
RUSH #
This is the initial intense surge of effect from a drug, typically euphoric in nature, and usually experienced via insufflation.
S #
STASH #
A stash is usually someone’s personal collection of drugs.
STIM #
This is a stimulant, such as cocaine or amphetamine.
STIM DICK #
This is the incapacity of the subject to produce and maintain an erection under the influence of certain substances. Many stimulants, for example, frustrate the ability to do so.
STONER #
This is someone who is often, or usually, under the influence of cannabis.
SWIM #
This is an acronym for Someone Who Isn’t Me. It is used on forums and elsewhere, typically in a trip report, to ostensibly prevent legal liability via the avoidance of describing one’s own dubious activities in writing.
T #
TCDO #
A Temporary Class Drug Order (TCDO) is a government banning order for a period of one year, relating to named compounds. Subsequent to this the specific drugs are almost always classified under existing UK legislation.
TOKE #
Toking is to pull and inhale smoke, typically via a cannabis joint.
TOSS & WASH #
This is a basic method of orally consuming a powder: the powder is placed in the mouth, quickly followed by a gulp of water, which is swished around with the powder and swallowed as soon as it is possible to do so. This is a technique commonly used with foul tasting substances, such as kratom.
TRACERS #
These are visible trails that are left behind a moving object whilst under the experience of a psychedelic.
TRIP #
This is the state of being under the influence of a psychoactive drug, typically a psychedelic.
TRIP SITTER (aka SITTER) #
A trip sitter is a person who remains sober and unimpaired, with the purpose of ensuring the safety and well being of someone tripping under a psychedelic drug.
